COMPANY HISTORICALLY
1997
- Mr. Mahfooz A. Qureshi founded the company.
- A marketing contract was signed with M/s. Sante (pvt) ltd. (a local ophthalmic pharmaceutical manufacturing company) and successfully marketed 26 products in central zone of Pakistan.
- Company secured best marketing award from M/s. Sante (pvt.) ltd.
1998
- Mr.Fayyaz Ahmad joined as Sales Manager for surgical business.
- A contract was signed with Visicon International to market, sell and distribute their intraocular lenses (product of Ophthalmic Innovations International-USA ).
- Highly experienced and skilled professionals were appointed as Zonal Sales Managers for Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar zones to get the deep and frequent penetration in to the market by understanding the socio-geographical customer behavior and need.
- Achieved a sale of 26 million rupees in the fiscal year ending June-1998.
1999
- Successfully launched “Viscosurg” (a Viscoelastic surgical fluid (HPMC 2%) and 10/0 Nylon suture in the name of “Surgilon”.
- Achieved a sale of 31 million rupees in the fiscal year ending June-1999.
2000
- Achieved a sale of 35 million rupees in the year ending June-2000.
- Started negotiations with some German companies to acquire high quality intraocular lenses to increase the company potential in tremendously growing lens implant market.
2001
- Achieved a sale of 40 million rupees as a result of fiscal year ending June-2001.
- Successfully got in to the contract with Medicontur Medical Engineering Company - Germany and launched full range of their intraocular lenses.
- Started distribution of Hydron contact lenses in central region.
- Started negotiations with Optikon and Oertli to acquire their PHACO system.
2002
- Successfully got in to distribution contract with Oertli-Switzerland and launched their small incision surgical systems like CataRhex, CataRhex-Pro and OS3.
- Company secured 40% market share in Phaco business in 12 months short period of time.
- Eng.M.Naeem joined as service engineer for equipment business and was based at Islamabad.
- Mr.Tahir Hussain joined as Sales Executive for intraocular lens business.
- Mr.Fayyaz Ahmad was deputed as sales manager for equipment business.
2003
- Eng.M.Naeem was promoted to Manager Service and Support.
- Eng.Faisal Ahmad Joined as Associate Engineer Service and support for equipment business and was based at Multan.
- Company entered in to a contract with M/s.Wide Range for the import and distribution of its equipment.
2004
- Successfully got in to the contract with Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems-Switzerland to promote their Steel Cataract Knives and PASCAL tonometer.
- Successfully got in to the distribution contract with ThinOptX Inc. USA for Rollable lens “Ultra Choice 1.0” (thin lens).
- Achieved a sales of 60 million rupees as a result of fiscal year ending June,2004
2005
- Launched a break through Swiss device for the diagnosis of Glaucoma “ PASCAL – Dynamic Countur Tonometer” which was a product of Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems.
- Company was registered with DP Army, Dp Navy and DP Air.
2006
- Status of the company was upgraded from AOP to a Private Limited Company.
- Marketing contract with Sante Private Limited was terminated with the intension to get in to a third-party manufacturing to develop company’s own product line of eye drops.
- Company was registered with COD (Central ordinance depot - Army)
2007
- Company got in to the exclusive distribution agreements with “Wave Light- Germany”, “Moria – France” and “Acritec – Germany”.
- Sold the first unit of Excimer laser system “Allegretto Wave” along with their Analyzer and Topolyzer immediately after one month of signing the agreement with “Wave Light”.
- Sold first unit of Moria M2 Microkeratome in the first month of signing the agreement.
- Company achieved a record sale of 100 million rupees in the fiscal year ending June, 2007.
2008
- Company got in to the exclusive distribution agreements with “Ellex Pvt.Ltd. – Australia (A premier Ophthalmic Laser Systems Manufacturing Company) and introduced its Photodisruptor, Phtocoagulator and Photo regenerator.
- Also signed an exclusive agreement with Bon Optic, Germany to specially promote Vega X-Linker (CCCL - Corneal Collagen Cross Linking System) which is a modern treatment for Keratoconus.
2009
- One of our principal companies “Acri.Tec” was taken over by “Carl Zeiss Meditec - Germany”. Keeping in view Optisurg’s historical performance, Carl Zeiss Meditec decided to continue with us and extended his cooperation towards Optisurg.
- WaveLight was also taken over by Alcon (USA) and Alcon also decided to extend business cooperation with Optisurg.
2010
- Company signed an exclusivity distribution agreement with Schwind Eye Tech Solutions (Germany) to sell their complete range of refractive diagnostic & treatment (Excimer Laser) equipment.
- Company crossed the sales of 120 million rupees this year.
2011
- Company got in to cooperation with HOYA Surgical optics (Singapore) to promote their Hydrophobic preloaded Intraocular Lenses.
- Company decided to terminate the distribution contract with Alcon (Wavelight) as the Schwind was the right and better alternative to that in the long-term business interests.
- Company crossed a sale of 150 million rupees
2012
- Company crossed a record sale of 200 million rupees this year
2013
- Company crossed a record sale of 250 million rupees this year
- The distribution contract with Carl Zeiss Meditec was terminated in the month of December due to a strategic proceeding by Carl Zeiss Meditec to merg their IOL distributors in to their Instrument’s distributors to enforce their new slogan “ All Solutions Under One Roof”.
2014
- A strategic decision was taken by the company to discontinue with the distribution of Schwind from September, 2014.
- Successfully launched with single use range of Corneal Transplant Instruments of Moria Surgical (France) like Trephines & Punches.
2015
- Distribution contract was signed with “OPTOPOL TECHNOLOGIES” to promote & distribute for their excellent products like “SOCT Copernicus REVO & Perimeters”.
- Another distribution contract was signed with “ADAPTICA” (an Italian company) having excellent products to analyze vision and refraction.
- A sister company was registered as “Medevo (Pvt.) Ltd. to start with Pharmaceutical manufacturing (especially Ophthalmic Eye drops & Ointments) where a plot was purchased in Sundar Industrial Estate and applied for an approval from Ministry of Health Islamabad.
2016
- Launched SLO based FDA approved and very popular digital imaging system “easyScan” manufactured by I-OPTICS (Hollands).
- Got the approval to construct the manufacturing facility for our sister concern “Medevo (Pvt.) Ltd. Civil work just started.
2017
- Acquired & Launched OCTs and Perimeters manufactured by “Optopol” Poland which is a premier company in introducing ophthalmic OCTs.
2018
- Launched “Adaptica” an Italian company manufacturing a modern and unique Vision Analysing systems as 2WIN & VisionFit.
- Launched “Micron -M7” Excimer Laser System manufactured by “Excelsius Medical” Germany and first unit installed at “Eye Site” Lahore.
2019
- Achieved a record sale of 741 Million rupees this year.
- Company became market leader in OCTs.
- Company achieved the first milestone in regulatory affairs and registered with DRAP as an importer and distributor for medical devices.
2020
- COVID-19 affected the sales and dropped by 40%.
- Company remained market leader in OCTs, Phaco & Vitreoretinal segment.
- Signed the Distribution contract with Excelsius to promote sell & distribute excimer & Femto Lasers. We sold the first unit of Micron M7 to Laser Site, Lahore.
2021
- Successfully recovered from COVID-19 phase and achieved the record sales of 860 million.
- Company remained market leader in OCTs, Phaco & Vitreoretinal segment.
- Company lost the distribution of Ellex Pty Ltd. Due to its merger with Quantal Medical internationally.
- Installation work of machinery & equipment at Medevo (Pvt) Ltd. (a sister pharma concern of Optisurg) has been completed and ready for DRAP inspection.
